The suffragette movement and how it
all got started. It all began very sudden like.
Lang, Lang agan the brewers of Toon Ale decided to change
the name to something mair touristy, because thats the
way the powers that be do things. Just when everything is
cosy they decide to upset the apple cart. Well after months
of deliberation they called it Comet Ale. They kept the sign
of the Blazing comet so ivvory body would knaa it was the
genuine article. As you know it was taboo for wimmen to sup
of it, but they had their aan brew, which was called Toon
Spirit. For years and years both men and wimmen war ower the
moon with this arrangement. The women because it pleased them
to have a brew specially made for them. Ye knaa a vanity kind
of thing, and the men because it kept the wimmen folk quiet.
As I said before this arrangement went on for donkeys
years until a lass called Cushy Butterfield decided women
should be able to sup Toon Ale if they so desired. This set
the men up in arms they barred Cushy out of ivvory inn and
tavern in the city, but this just inflamed matters.
All the wimmen started talking saying Cushy was reet. So they
stopped doing for their men. They even started to burn their
shawls in the Market Square. It just seemed like ower neet
aal the wimmen war banded together. Cushy Butterfield even
chained hor sel to the railings of the moot hall shouting
for the reet to sup Toon Ale. Well after a couple of weeks
with no stottie sarnies the men left the name as it waas and
gave in ti the wimmen.and thats how the wimmins lib
got a haad. The worst thing that had happened in Geordie land.
Just look at the numbers of wimmen suppin Toon Ale To this
very day.
