We watched the flames a flickering
As the shadows they did grow

In the reflection of the river
Swam a city light
And the stars they shone like crystal

The sky was of black velvet

We watched the moonbeams ripple
As they danced across the Tyne

The skyline was of bridges
In a valley full of charms
My heart was filled with pleasure
As I took you in my arms

We were a loving couple
Sitting hand in hand
